Look at E-bay and as today I can see 118 results for 8 track player car for sale and 2,751 results for 8 track stereo tapes for sale.
I remember the 8-track format. That was a big deal in the late 1960’s. I had a 4-track in my old $500.00 old beater in 1966 and was very happy when the car died with the 4-track with it. Fast forward, my friend had a delivery route and he had an 8-track in it in the late 1970’s. Then I remember going to this house in the late 1980’s and he had boxes of boxes of old tapes in his garage. He passed away about 20 years ago and am sure the tapes are all gone by now. I remember when you are hearing the tunes, suddenly there is a pause, a click, a pause, and the music starts again. And if the heads are not just right, your tape gets eaten. And you can hear a ‘hiss’ in the tape while it is playing. And the quality of the music is under par compared to a CD today. Am really happy that time is long and gone.
But good luck with your quest.
