I've always thought that my GMC Motorhome was considered a RV (Recreational Vehicle).
According to WikipediA "A recreational vehicle, often abbreviated as RV, is a motor vehicle or trailer which includes living quarters designed for accommodation. Types of RVs include motorhomes, campervans, caravans (also known as travel trailers and camper trailers), fifth-wheel trailers, popup campers and truck campers. "
The Merriam-Webster on line dictionary "a vehicle designed for recreational use (as in camping) especially : motor home"
So, it would appear our GMC motorhomes are Recreational Vehicles.
Now according to Discount Tire's "Certificate For Repair, Refund or Replacement" program (at $21.75/tire) "Conditions and Exclusions ....does not apply to tires used on commercial trucks, recreational vehicles".
Would tires purchased for our motorhomes be covered?

Unless you live in it, the point is likely moot. You're going to toss the tires on age long before they wear out.

I like the Wiki wording except that part about a trailer being a vehicle. It's a trailer. Vehicle is typically short for motor vehicle. But this does not apply to us anyway.
With Discount tire you need to determine if their "warranty" supersedes the manufacturer warranty or if the tire manufacturer warranty overrides the Discount Tire warranty. I won't let any of my vehicles into their service bays and only only bring in tires/wheels to be mounted. Not to bash them, but last winter I ordered a replacement Radial TA for my Jeep and when I picked up the wheel assembly noticed the tire was 3 years old. I told him to get me one in the current calendar year. He offered $30 off so to save trips I agreed. I checked their work on my balancer and found balance not correct. I rebalanced.
Also on the receipt the recommended lug torque was WRONG from their database. They don't discern between factory steel and factory aluminum wheels but lump them together.
I will bet money they don't know the correct way to jack a GMC and that you MUST exhaust the air on the rear side you are jacking to prevent shock damage. Also I will bet money they don't have the correct torque numbers and these are only 140 if you have Alcoas. The torque pattern is also extremely non intuitive and must be downloaded from Alcoa site.
Cudos to you for catching that Discount wording, but more in depth research is needed.

Some years ago I had a blowout on one of my GMC's tires. I had the Discount Tire "Certs" on it, but when I tried to get an adjustment, I was told it was not covered because it was on a Recreational Vehicle. So no adjustment. So I had to buy a new tire and eat the price of the "Certs". Never again I thought to myself.
Now the other day I bought 2 tires from my local Discount Tire and the salesmen wanted me to buy the "Certs". I said no because they will be on an RV (I had taken the wheels in without the GMC). He said, "we don't consider a motor home a Recreational Vehicle so you would be covered". Really??
I wrote CustomerRelations@discounttire.com for clarification:
"I recently purchased some tires for my motorhome. I was asked if I wanted "certificates" to which I replied NO. Reason being that under Conditions and Exclusions it states "does not apply to tires used on commercial trucks, recreational vehicles". He told me that Discount Tire does not consider a motor home a "recreational vehicle" therefore a certificate could be purchased and would cover "the replacement of a tire damaged as a result of a road hazard or manufacturer defect". Is that a correct interpretation of your Certificate program?"
Their response:
"Thank you for choosing Discount Tire for your purchase.
That would be correct, your tires would be covered under the warranty on your motorhome. "

Sounds like you would be covered that is till you had a problem. I always pulled the wheels on my coach and had new tires installed at Costco there road hazard warranty covered them.
