This past week end was a very busy one for Judy and I. We attended the
Great Oregon Steamup at Brooks, Oregon with at least 23 coaches in
attendance and several folks that stayed nearby.
Two clubs were represented, the 49ers and the GMC Cascaders. Kind of a
laid back dry camping rally.
Great old steam powered equipment, most of it made by American workers
over 100 years ago, still running and very capable of doing a days work,
when days were measured in daylight hours.
These rallies are like family reunions, getting together, enjoying
each other, eating and drinking and kicking back.
Truly, what these coaches were made
for.
Life is short, enjoy every minute of it.
Jim Hupy, President, GMC CASCADERS.

And as a first-time rally attendee (although sans Birchaven) it was a
lovely opportunity to connect with other patients in the asylum.

Glad you took the time, and also glad you got to see first hand, a tiny bit
of what we do with these old coaches. As well as enjoy the Steamup. We were
couple of whipped puppies, having just returned from California the
Thursday evening before the rally started. Hope you saw what we do at a dry
camping rally, they differ a bunch from the more formal stuff we do at full
hookup RV destinations with clubhouses and full programs. Rolling rallies
are another style, from wine tours, to covered bridges, to extensive long
hauls like retracing old Route 66 from Chicago to
Santa Monica.
