This was the longest trip we have taken since owning the coach and rebuilding the top end of the engine, I'm real happy with how it performed.
Fresno, CA. to Ogden, UT.
US-99 > I-80 > I-15 850 mi.
Ogden, UT. to Fresno, CA.
I-15 > CA 58 > US 99 - 849 mi.
1700 mi. round trip
The first day we left Fresno, Ca. at about 7:30 AM and except for fuel and bathroom breaks I drove until I was tired and stopped for the night at a Walmart in Winnemucca, NV. 468 mi. The coach went over Donner Pass smoothly. No altitude or heating problems. I had to shift down a couple of times but was surprised at how well the coach pulled the mountains.
Gas mileage sucked but we ran the generator for the roof air and climbing the mountains so I guess it was to be expected. average 5-mpg.

Coming home we decided to take the Southern route through Vegas to Bakersfield and up to Fresno. It's an easier climb than I-80 and actually 1 mile shorter. (Whoopee) I'm not sure it was the best idea. We got a late start and ended up on the desert floor during the heat of the day. 100+. I stopped in North Vegas until sunset. We started out but the heat was still bad so we stopped just South of Vegas and slept until 4am and headed out. The rest of the trip was uneventful and we made it home about 12:30 where the temp was 102 and the high for the day ended up 106.

The coach ran great. There was some fuel boiling and power loss in the Nevada heat but the elec. pump helped. The engine only used a half a quart of oil as did the Onan. I know this is not the ideal time to make this trip but circumstances necessitated it happen now. I do have a list of little things to do but nothing major.
Oh, I almost forgot. The air compressor decided to quit around Barstow so I just closed off the air to the bags and kept going. The new compressor is setting on the bench at home.

Sort of crazy to hear fuel boiling., but it happens.
Were you low on fuel when that happened??

JimK, I was surprised also. The tanks were about half full. One of my tasks is to check the entire fuel system.

The new fuel behaves that way.
Keep the tanks fill up above half.
Make sure the exhaust pipe baffles on by both tanks.
Always be careful and treat the gas cap like an Radiator cap as it can push
the fuel out and get into your eyes.
