I see there's a GMC get-together coming up this weekend in conjunction with the Great Oregon Steam-Up at Brooks Oregon, about 10 miles from me.

I spaced this out because my '74 gutted Eleganza would just be a source of mirth and merriment to attendees.

As I recently acquired a '77 Birchaven (in pretty good condition) I had hoped to attend and see what others have done with the various possible fixes and upgrades.

However, I'm not planning on bringing the Birchaven - three reasons - 1: Too late to actually register, 2: I'm not yet comfortable enough with the vehicle systems to attempt anything other than camping in our backyard parking space, and 3: the black tank has a ginormous hole in it and I would be remarkably unpopular if anything got flushed.

So, is there any problem with me showing up and gawking at other peoples GMCs without bringing one of my own?

Thanks for any insight -

Stu

Heck no! We encourage you to come find us, have a beer, and absorb all the info you can. In return, we'll bend your arm to join the Cascaders (if you aren't alrady a member) I'm guessing most folks will be out and about during the day and show up at their coach at beer-o-clock (I think that's about 5PM for most of us, but there's a couple that thinks it's AM).

Stu,

Think back to January.
I wrote you my pretty standard welcome.
These people love to talk about their coaches.

Go and find owners and ask questions. The only thing they like more than talking, is helping others.
So, Go, Do not sweat the fact that your coaches aren't there.
You got a TZE and you got here, so you still have about a thousand brand new old friends you need to meet.

Matt

I once showed up at a luncheon with only my treasured GMC Motorhome brochure and wife and daughter. This was years before we bought our Palm Beach.

We were warmly welcomed and invited to see all the coaches. Questions were answered and awe was inspired.

I’ve got to get my coach back on the road.

Pretty sure you would be welcome at ANY GMC rally! But like Bill said, above, some of the attendees are likely to be out doing something during the day, so you might miss them.

I know some attendees are very pushie and offend others when it came to
political issues.
International addressed that but sometimes not strong enough.
I have been pulled aside and requested to watch my words at Convention.

I am probably guilty as anyone else when it comes to offensive language,
because I worked in a maximum security prison from 1977 until my retirement
in 1996. Some of that gutter language rubbed off on me, and I have been
known to revert back to it from time to time. I know it offends the
delicate sensitivities of some who have not been exposed to it.
My days always start out with the best of intentions, but events of
the day sometimes take precedence.
Sorry, my intentions are good, but I guess I am just an ordinary
sinner. (confession over).
