Rich,
Any site that actually has listings for parts usually just has the model under GMC as "Motorhome". However sites with actually listing for parts is few and far between. GM used alot of existing parts from other vehicles such as the Toronado drive-train, so I look that up under '76 Olds Toronado.

Join GMCMI as they publish a printed parts book each year, it is also on-line. I have found however some subs are not a great fit.

Ordering parts from GMC Motorhome Vendors usually assures you it is the proper part. They have spent the time looking for parts that fit. For us in Canada they shipping and brokerage charges can get out of hand though.

Asking on the Forum here is always a good idea.

Rich,

If you need parts, do not look at p30 (a special purpose chassis some of which went under motorhomes) or K series that are truck chassis often sold to upfitters as cab-chassis for C class.

Now you are down to some other choices.
If you can't find what you need by looking for a 1973 GMC Transmode (which is often in catalogs, but there was no Transmode in 73), or for some driveline parts (not all of them) try a 7X (model year) Toronado. Even these are often wrong....

Then, go over to GMCMI and roll into the parts interchange. This is a pretty good listing. When that doesn't work, call Applied and ask for help. There is a slight problem there that they are three hours west of you. They will tell you part numbers, and their prices are not bad but shipping is always a bear and to Canada that bear is a Grizzly.

We have all been dealing with this for a very long time.

Also, be aware of any upgrades or changes a previous owner has made to the coach. For instance, one-ton front end and rear disk brakes will use different parts than OEM.

Document these changes along with the part numbers or original year/make/model that the upgraded parts came from. This will make it easier when it comes to maintenance on those parts of the coach.

When they are asking for a chassis model they are expecting that you have a motorhome built on a truck chassis. The GMC motorhome were built by GM as a complete unit and not on a chassis from Chevrolet or other truck division.
So you don’t have a model number to tell them.

The 23' models were designated as 230 and the 26' was designated as 260 models. Some aftermarket catalogues designate them as TZE 's.

Whether or not it helps, I keep all my receipts in a folder, and then transfer most of the information to a spreadsheet on the computer. I have columns for the supplier, part number(s), date it went into service, mileage etc.

This has made things easier as I go through systems. Its organized better as well.
