Hi, all... I'm looking for rebuild kits and/or replacement parts for my ASME (original horizontal) LP / Propane tank in my '78 Royale. I've searched (for hours) and found lots of threads, but none of 'em seem to have any real info on where I could go to buy a rebuild kit for my fill valve or shutoff valve.

I have both apart, and can see that the problem is entirely in worn rubber bits (not surprising) but for the life of me, I can't find any info on where I might be able to find replacement O-rings / bushings / etc.

I'd be OK with replacing the fill valve. I DID find a live link in one of the old threads about this subject, but the replacement valve pictured in the link is clearly a different size than mine. Heck, I'd even be happy to buy a new shutoff valve (though I'd be happiest if I could just unscrew the actual valve bits and thread them into the original threads).

I'd appreciate ANY input on this, so I can get my LP system operational again.

Thanks!

Thanks for the info (for me, and for future searchers).

The fill valve looks similar, but the photos of the one on Amazon clearly shows coarser threads on the part that threads into the tank. I'm swagging mine has 1.5mm thread pitch. The one in the Amazon photo looks to have 2.0mm thread pitch, give or take.

Does that ring any bells with anyone out there?

FWIW, I did just notice that the fill valve was built by Fisher, and a search on eBay turned up a new old stock valve assembly (yep, just the part that threads into the valve housing). Assuming it has the flat washer that lives between the "cap" and the moving part, I'm golden there!

Here (I hope) is a photo showing the fill valve and the (old) part I'm replacing for the fill valve repair.

Ahhh, I just noticed that I really didn't have the ENTIRE fill valve out. Now that I got the rest of it out, I can see the difference in the threads, and know that the one linked above is almost certainly the right one.

Thanks!

Locally, Blossman Gas has rebuild kits for both valves, and replacement valves.

Just for posterity's sake, here's what I ended up getting to fix my (all original) 41 year old LP tank...

REGO 7647SC fill valve (installed like butter, and it was a treat to not have a blast of LP shooting back at the shocked fill station attendant). $23 delivered.

Bonnet Replacement Kit T13184 - found this as new (very) old stock from an eBay vendor. $20 delivered. This replaced the all the moving parts on my very worn shutoff valve. No more hissing when opening or closing the valve.

The only other cost was a roll of the yellow teflon tape for installing the above.

Now my tank fills and turns on/off like it did when I was in tech school. Wink
