They're out there!
I admit several new owners and interested young (and not so young) people
every single day to the "Classic GMC Motorhomes" Facebook group. It is
extremely active!
The group has 5,384 members at this minute and will grow today as well.
For the month of March alone, there were 554 posts with 8,833 comments to
those posts.
The Facebook group is not intended to replace the GMCnet,
but does offer a presence to be found where folks most often search for
information today. These people are actively seeking what you experienced
GMCers have to offer. They are regularly directed to GMCnet but that, being
outside their norm, seldom happens.
I invite and encourage each of you to take part in this group as your
knowledge and experience is sincerely solicited and will be appreciated.
The Facebook platform does take some effort to use successfully and one
should be careful of how you set up your profile. Like most things
internet, be wary!
And, FYI
Many GMCs are bought and sold with the help of the equally active "GMC
Motorhome Marketplace" Facebook page.

Those younger GMC owners are the ONLY reason I spend any time with FB. Because a daughter-in-law thinks it is primary communication, I kind of had to sign on. Then I was reading the GMC pages and discovered a large group of local younger owners and interested parties. As best I could determine, there were about two dozen unconnected local owners, many of whom had younger children and were still working. That is why I started the:
South East Michigan & Northern Ohio Owners Network lunch group. SEMNO That is also why it is on Saturday.
It is also at a buffet style place because I never have any clue how many will actually show up.
Last Saturday was fifteen. That included one new couple that had never before attended. <SCORE>
We (collectively) have managed to pull in about a dozen that were previously not connected to the GMC community. I would like to do more, but I don't have a better idea and when you look at it as betting 500, that is not too bad.
I am hoping to organize a mini-rally next month, but finding a venue has been an issue.
Otherwise FB almost a total waste of time. Some entertainment....
I keep cautioning those that show up there looking for advice that many of those that write there are not all that familiar with the vagaries of the TZE and that they should be cautious. So far, I have seen two serviceable coaches end up scrapped (as in sold for the tow bill or similar). This was because the owner took the wrong advice and by the time the error was evident, repair was not economically rational.

Not going to argue that Facebook has it's issues and people problems. But I have seen that here over the past 8 years on occasion.
It is amazing how many younger folks are getting interest in GMC's. They do occasionally struggle with keeping them fixed up, both financially and mechanically(I think we all do to some point) , but there is also so many that are figuring it out and really starting to contribute. Facebook and smart phones have a pretty quick messaging feature that can do video as well. I have used that many times to help new owners figure out some things with the coach.
We are hosting our MN rally next month, and I have no real idea as to how many will come, but as I understand it will should have a dozen kids running around. So we are gearing up a little change in some activities for the demographic. When I brought my family to my 1st GMC rally, my two kids were the only kids there.

This is exactly why we need to provide those interested with the required guidance. I keep telling them that,
"A reliable and ready to travel GMC will cost ~30kUS$. The good part is that sweat is counted at shop rate."
I can also tell them that I paid a reasonable price for my coach, but I blew right on by the sweat value years ago.
So, I keep telling them that if they don't have all the documentation, go to B'dub's (I usually provide the link) and download it. If you have questions, then come back to the forum (again, a link is provided). Try a search but don't be afraid to ask questions. There is experience here in millions of miles and untold decades. Use it to advantage.

My girlfriend and myself are in our early 30s and we have enjoyed every minute of owning our rig. We’ve had some trying times when we took our road trip around the country. New windshields in Florida. But we got to meet all the great folks at the Sirums shop and had a chance to talk with Alex and Jeff for a quite a while and was wonderful. We lost our tranny in San Fran. Stayed at JimKs and got a new radiator to boot. Then our motor popped when we were in Utah. After all that nonsense. It was an amazing experience that we wouldn’t have changed much aside from the bills that came with all the repairs. We’re glad to be a part of this community and look forward to many more years of enjoying our almost new now rig.

Thanks Jim and Jen.
Fellow grey hairs, for their generation, it’s all about the experience, and GMC Motorhomes ARE an experience.
Make that they are THE EXPERIENCE.
With awful paint and all, I had a few dozen come through it at my granddaughters middle school (tours conducted by Lyla, of course), and not only the kids, but many of the parents though it was the coolest thing EVER (their emphasis). Let’s see how many come to Mansfield.
An EXPERIENCE.
That’s the sizzle that sells the steak.

I agree with Jon Roche's comment on how many younger folks are getting
interest in GMC's. We are seeing the trend also at the GMCMI Conventions.
This Spring in Tallahassee, Florida we had seven children ranging from
three to 14 years old. (This is quite a feat for our Convention is during
the school year.) During the "She Shed", Lyla Santorine along with her
grandma lead a class on "Making Slime". It was well received and a lot of
fun. Our theme was "Treasures in Tallahassee" and the pirate attire, games,
etc were well received. We conducted a "Treasure Hunt" for four days where
on each day four small treasure chests were hid with clues. The children
participated and found them as well and received burlap "Pirate Booty
Bags". Upon the children's arrival, they receive their badge with a special
lanyard and a "goodie bag". In the bag is a certificate for a "free
t-shirt", the GMCMI Activity Book, age-appropriate crayons/markers/pencils,
button, stickers, tatoos, and a water bottle cooler with a clip. Our goal
is to make them feel welcome and have fun! We are looking forward to the
Fall Convention in Mansfield, Ohio where I have been informed two of the
children are already talking back and forth and anxious to get together
again.
Plus, out of our 145 Spring registrants, 35 of them were first-timers.
Granted, not all of them were young but all were young-at-heart.
Jon, I wish you great success at your rally, we are hoping to attend.
