We are planning (way ahead) to take a trip to Big Bend National Park in January, so we can catch the Jan. GMCSJ rally, in Benson, AZ. on the way home. We are looking at possibly camping at Chisos Basin, but the campground info says the road is steep and curvy, and that the spaces are small. They don't recommend rigs over 24' in length.
Does anyone here have any experience with camping in this area? Would we have any issue with our 26' GMC? I don't think getting there would be a problem, but I am worried about the small campsite spaces.
Any other suggestions for Big Bend? We can dry camp with no problems.
Thanks

There are some excellent, easily accessible campsites in Big Bend. Don’t try to camp at the ones you mention. When I get back home from the GMCMI rally in Tallahassee I can look up the campground that we have stayed at there and even give you some campsite numbers of pull through sites that would work well for a GMC pulling a toad. You can day trip to everywhere in Big Bend from the campground we used.

Thanks Emery! That's exactly our plan, to day trip from the base camp. The info on the campsite you recommend would be much appreciated.

So...Emery, when you get a chance, could you please look up the camping information in Big Bend for us?
Thanks,
