Hi - I would like to replace the dash bezel in our 1974 coach. I know there is a fiberglass reproduction available, but I am wondering what model of truck the original came from. And if a reproduction of the original is available.
Thank you.

My 74 dash bezel, the donut, is deteriorating, cracking.
I have pondered on fixing it and I don't care if it has the soft
leatherette surface.
I am contemplating maybe using truck bed liner on it after the
cracks are flattened. can be colored over later if you don't like
the color and is uv protected, and tough, should'nt crack again.
There are others that had a fix also using some kind of glue and then
fixing the surface to look smooth again. I am sure they will
chime in.

If you are talking about the apholstered perimeter of the gauge cluster and
filling/spraying with bed liner material I assume you are planning on
removing it first. If so once you have it removed and the gauges out why
not have an apholstery place just re cover it?

Sully's right: Just reupholstering the "donut" isn't a big job. With a
soft "stretchable" cloth-backed vinyl, it's possible for even a rank
amateur like me to do a reasonable job. Fact is, I've got the one I
covered 15+ years ago loaded to take to Tallahassee to give away. It's
showing its age now, especially the refinish it received 10+ years ago, but
it illustrates that it can be done. Take a look at it in FL.

As that vehicle is unique in width, and 40 years old, it might be a bit of
a stretch to expect any of the original part supply to still exist, but,
you might try Cinnebar, it is possible that they might have it.

Les,
There are a large number of dash bezel makers out there, and I mean lots, just do a google search on “dash bezel” and see how many pop up. These are bezel makers that do popular cars from the 50,60 and 70+ years of manufacture. As for the possibility of a generic dash bezel for the GMC coach being available is probably slim and none.
There are a number of GMC suppliers that do complete dashes and replacement bezels and they are as follows:
http://www.appliedgmc.com/prod.itml/icOid/499
http://www.custominstrumentpanels.com/gmc.htm
There are a number of GMC suppliers that have replacement blank bezels, you have to contact them. See J. Bounds, Jeff @ Alex Sirum's, Golby’s.
There are a number of GMC owners that have built there own dash setups and this is a partial list.
