Hi everyone,
My name is Adam. I've been in love with these for over 40 years (always saw one sitting at a neighbors house). I own a small auto restoration shop in upstate New York, and am looking to downsize out of my house into one of these coaches. By virtue of my business, I'm extremely handy around most items automotive and a few that aren't. I'd love to hear of any projects for sale, but in the meantime thanks for the add!!!

Adam

Adam,
The GMC is a bit small to Full Time in. It has limited storage inside with no basement and if you have a roof pod then you have an attic. That said, there are a few that do full time, but it is usually just a single person. Up until a couple of years ago we did 4 plus months each winter in Florida and AZ. Up until this past summer we did about 10K miles a year. This is the first year that we did not bring our GMC out to AZ, it is still in the Main shop up on stands for the winter and we will wake it up in the spring. Again, if you have a lot of stuff then you want to consider a larger coach with slides and a basement say a 38’ or 40’ unit. I am sure others will give their thoughts.

Adam,

Welcome to the group, family, cult, asylum.....

You said upstate, and then I noticed Pooghkeepsie. While that is only barely upstate (I know, the NYC people think anything north of Yonkers is upstate), it has the advantage of putting you in striking range of a lot of other owners. To this end, get on B'dub's lots of good links that make a habit of looking through the "for sale" in the newsletters from all the chapters. When you find one that looks good, then get to your Black's list that you also downloaded there and find a close name. There is a better than even chance that he may know about it and the owner. If not, you could ask if it is in range for him to look at it. You can also hook up with Colonial Travelers, Nor'Easters and Heritage Cruisers for local or near local contacts.

There is also a GMC Marketplace on FaceBook. If you do read Facebook, be very careful there. I have seen a lot of advice that was bad bordering on dangerous spilled out there. It is great for communication, but suffers as a technical resource. (IMNSHO)

Before you get too far, let me also apprise you of a very well documented saying we have here.
- - A reliable and ready to travel GMC will cost about 30K#us - All at once or as a kit. - -
What it does not say, and this should interest you, is that sweat is billed in at full shop rate.

Whether you have a coach or not, get ready to drive something to Mansfield OH in the fall. The fall international will be a place to learn more than you ever could otherwise.

This is a very supportive and helping kind of group.

Welcome Adam

Matt
