Are these the same Brake Guatds that the FTC sued the company for false advertising and untrue claims way back in 1995?https://www.ftc.gov/news-events/press-releases/1998/01/ftc-upholds-charges-against-brake-guard-add-brakes-are-not-abs

I haven’t heard much about them lately except for people removing them and transferring them to the trash bin. Good luck trying to sell them to the GMC community. I think it’ll be an uphill sell. Maybe you should try eBay or Craig’s list. They’ll buy anything.

Like these? There are prior threads on this topic. My Brake Guards are NFS. Never installed, I keep them as a reminder not to do business with a certain GMC vendor.

Emery,
I am with you on the “Brake Guards”. I have a pair that I took off the stretch coach in 2011 when I bought it. They are true FAKE NEWSI think that I might still have them in the storage cabinet. Anyone that wants them can have them for postage. I won’t be back in Michigan till mid April if anyone can wait.

Purely tongue in cheek. I figure if you're interested in the high mileage carb you're a potential customer Smile

That's how it appeared to me. I don't think a guy with 7K+ posts and 45th degree karma is trying to hornswaggle fellow GMC'ers. Still you gotta be careful not to be taken out of context.

When I was parts mgr for Lazy Days, had a company wanting us to be a dealer for them. [Not sure it was brake guards but same type device]
They did the installation on an out of warranty Bounder with a p-30 chevy chassis.
Basicly they are spring loaded air chambers that compress during braking to avoid lock up
Several of us drove the coach for an evaluation.
P30 chassis did tend to lock up the brakes in a panic stop- and these did reduce that. However it came at the cost of a very mushy pedal and increased pedal travel, much like having air in the lines or misadjusted brake drums.
Our conclusion was people would be better off learning to modulate the brakes themselves.
The potential liability issue was a deal killer
We removed them and I kept them.
Actually tried them on a drag car that had signifigant problems locking up the front brakes. Solved that problem but found an adjustable bias valve was a better solution.
I may still have them in storage
