Hi All,

Did you ever notice that you can't look up parts for a TZE at a parts store or online? The TZE model is missing from the listings.

I contacted the company behind the consolidated parts listings available from places like Advance, O'Reilly's, AutoZone, etc. that lists the parts available by year/make/model and they are willing to list the TZE, but... they stated this:

"Unfortunately, we are only able to post manufacture data if its provided directly from their data team. If you have a contact at GMC who is able to provide us with this data I'd be more than happy to work with them."

Does anyone happen to have a contact at GM/GMC that might be able to help 'authorize' the addition of the TZE to these databases?

Thanks,

-Dave

Dave,
It would be a great thing if our TZE models were on the parts store and online, but that is probably not going to happen. If your looking for parts for your 455 motor choose a 1975 Oldsmobile Tornado and select parts that you need, if you have the 403 then use a 1977 Toronado as your base. GMCMI has a Parts interchange Index that is a vast store house of knowledge of parts. It is updated during the year and a new updated Index is published every spring and is available not on the GMCMI website. You no longer have to be a GMCMI member to use the index, but GMCMI is a great group you should consider joining and maybe attending a convention.

The Index is here an you do have to sign up(no Charge) to register.

In this last year, I bought a lot of parts from many suppliers (as required). I found that many have a listing for a 1973 GMC Transmode. I personally think this is good because none of the records indicate the sale of a Transmode that model year. This can get you a lot, but not nearly all. It also excludes HEI, for that use a 75 or 6 Toronado.

The best answer by any stretch is to join GMCMI, get the paper (we still does that, don't we?) and carry that. The paper version still works when you have to read it by flashlight. I was going to say candle light, but my eyes aren't that good anymore.

Hi Jim,

No worries. I have already bought some parts from you and still have a big (and ever increasing) list of others I need to order. I’m also a GMCMI member.

My goal is simply just to get the motorhome listed in the database. I can look up small parts for our ‘57 Metropolitan, ‘59 DeSoto, ‘77 Gremlin, and ‘81 DeLorean in that database... so there’s no reason our GMCs shouldn’t also be included.

David S:
You might try Ray Swartzendruber - he was a GM engineer when these coaches were being built and may still have some contacts there. I bought his 76 GMC Eleganza II 26’er from him 5 1/2 years ago.
You also might try Dave Lenzi (independent GMC parts supplier/rebuilder) as I believe he worked at GM also and may still have contacts there.
Hope this info is helpful,
