This has been well covered over the years. So this is for new owners that may lack mechanical knowledge, skills, or abilities. Short version. You have 4 rubber brake line hoses on your GMC. 2 at the front. 2 at the rear. ( Like about every car/truck on the road.) These hoses can look fine on the outside. But can deteriorate on the inside. Basically they can cause problems in 2 ways. 1 Rupture, causing loose of braking. 2 Swell up on the inside. Brake fluid can flow out to the wheel brake cylinder/front caliper. Because of extremely high pressure. But can't flow back out so that the brakes can be released. Thus you end up with a wheel that has it's brake still on. This condition can be dangerous, and costly. Smell of burning brake material is the first sign of an issue. These 4 hoses cost about $200 from Jim K at Applied GMC. A lot cheaper the a tow to a shop. And lost days on your vacation.
