Gapping these R46SX down to .040 prior to install. They come at about .060 with the ground electrode sitting parallel. At .040 the electrode has to be at a slight angle. Is this ok?

It is OK, it will wear a little faster, but not so's you'd notice.

Right. Will favor the square edges instead of jumping around, so they will round off sooner.
