Emery,
Squinting at the 77-78 Transmode diagram for a while, I see both park/turn lamps have a separate ground wire (18ga black) running to the "electrical equip. panel ground", which I think is that aluminum plate under the right front hatch where the boost solenoid is mounted. Diagram shows both of them attaching to the same point where the headlight grounds attach, from whence a 10ga wire runs to chassis (frame?) ground. I'd look there first as being the only point in common with both park and turn lamp circuits.
The turn signal power comes through the 40-pin harness connector ("inst. panel harness to engine harness and forward lamp harness"), located at the "engine compartment dash panel, upper RH side". (Left turn cavity CU, Rt turn cavity BU, park lights cavity BV.) Clear as mud, eh? FWIW, the turn indicator lamps in the dash are powered from the front turn circuits, so if they work, you can assume the turn signal switch and its connector are OK.
Just one more thought here: since the side marker lamps ground THROUGH the turn signal bulb so they will flash when the turn signal is used, strange and dysfunctional things happen if you try to use LED bulbs in any of these places.

Stupid me! I spent two days tracing wires and connectors thinking that I might have pulled something when working under the dash.
Finally I pulled the lenses from the left and right turn signal lights and found that both bulbs were burned out!!!!
I should have checked that out first.
After replacing the bulbs everything works fine.
