RV travel newsletter had an interesting article about the requirements for needing a special license. We shouldn't need one in our coaches because of weight but those with stretches may need one or those towing. This link will take you to the RVtravel article which has a link to a PDF listing state requirements.

RVtravel.com produces a RV orientated newsletter every Saturday. Very interesting read with at least one very good article in every issue. Sing up and get it delivered to your e-mail for free. Some of the stories about owner horror stories will make you want to hug the GMC designers.

Only 3 western states require it Nevada,Wyoming ,and New Mexico if the Motorhome tag says the gross weight is over 27000 lbs also if it has air brakes so you would have no worries even if it were modified the factory tag won't change. I went threw hoops to get the B attachment for my license the inspector said after the driving test I need to brush up on my driving a bit . I said ok but I have owned and driven a Motorhome for 40 years! Just love dealing with the DMV.

Roy, I don't have a problem here in Ca. either but I have friends this affects and they weren't aware. Heaven forbid the dealer would inform them when they bought there rig. I know our coaches are pretty much exempt. I posted the link mostly as an FYI for those who also own SOBs. Illinois, as an example, has a 16,000 lb. GVW limit.

I also agree with Tom, the RVtravel newsletter (it is FREE) has some informative articles and columns. They are also setting up a volunteer group to check for bad electrical posts in campgrounds as well as working to ... Aw just go read a couple newsletters and you will get the drift. I think it was Matt that mentioned an article a while back and got me hooked. Thanks Matt.
