Does not work, at least for very long.
Here's the problem: Those items were made in a mold and mold release was
mixed into the "plastic type material" so it would come out. Almost nothing
will stick except... wait for it. a special two part epoxy made for the
marine industry to glue together hardwoods. Hardwoods have oils and reaction
is like a mold release. I have successfully used the epoxy for years on my
grill(s). I also glued on mounting bolts to the grill to replace those
oem's. And you can buy the epoxy from Applied. Great for other stuff as
well.

Thanks for the great information, Dean. I have had success with "JB Weld for Plastic". I don't know how long it will last. Next time I will try this other type of epoxy.

I repaired my grill with standard JB Weld years ago - it appears to holding up well. But I fix basically everything with JB Weld...

From what I learned from some older people is that the plastic used for the
grill has a mold release agent that will give of oily substace causing a
short trrm bond.
If I'm not mistaken there is a glue for wood that has an oily fiber that
can be obtained ad used succesfully.
