Your gain down Texas way was our loss up here in Paso Robles. We were left
with "Len". Grumpy ol Bstd. I built up an engine for a 23'1973 Glacier from
the short block using all parts from Mondello. Once I sorted out the
problems cause by melting cross over stuffing, and then three sets of bent
pushrods, by machining the heads, it turned into a rather smooth running
power house. Would I do it again.No. Other ways to achieve the same thing
for a lot less money. I did get stopped on I5 for going 108, at night, with
the tanks full, loaded with 5 of us, .. Pulling a 18' boat. Did someone say
motorhome speed record???

My coach recently broke down near Paso Robles.
Lynn at Mondello was very helpful in getting the parts I needed to get back on the road.

Did Mondello move to Texas?
If yes, where? I thought he was in Tennessee.

Joe Mondello moved to the big speed shop in the clouds. Where every run is
a new e.t. record, and parts never break.
He and Mary turned the business over to relatives in Paso Robles,
moved to Tennessee, where Mary still lives.

I remember Joe from an Eastern States Rally in Georgia. My daughter was around 2 years old, and Joe drove her all over that campground in his golf cart just to hear her giggle. Pretty much all weekend long. The smile on his face was every bit as big as the smile on hers as they made loop after loop. He passed away not long after, but he made a huge impression on my wife and me.
In almost 11 years as a GMC owner, given the nature of the ownership, I've seen some very special people I knew in person or over the computer or phone move on. Some have been just that extra bit harder to swallow. Even though I didn't know him long, Joe was one of the toughest. My daughter still has a picture from that weekend sitting on his cart up in her room. She obviously doesn't remember him, but she knows the story and still enjoys looking at the goofy smiles on their faces.
Thanks,

Grace and I got well aquainted with Mary and Joe shortly affter he aquired
the GMC MH.
He introduced me to several well known people in the auto parts industry to
where they know me as well.
Grace and I spent many evenings having dinner and social evets and learned
a lot.
I helped him out where he needed assistance and he did the same.
I will never forget the morning when he passed as I had spoken with Mary as
she had jusr left the hospital to go home.
Jerry Jarden ( Jarden Headers/mufflers) call for me to avise that he passed
away. I was on a hill with a blown Turbo when Nick gave me the news. Jerry
knew Joe and I have been doing things to together, so he wanted me to know.
