Several of you have asked off line where to buy the kit. I designed this in concert with USCarburetion and they sell the kit(s). I make nothing on those sales, I did it only as a service to the GMC community and because I wanted that flexibility for our two GMC coaches. Once I installed the kits I never ran off gasoline again. Things work so well starting and running off propane. By the way, you will consume about the same number of gallons whether on propane or gasoline. Propane has less heat content but burns far more efficiently and completely so the net consumption is about the same.

Here is the USCarburetion web site: http://uscarb.com. Call them and ask for the GMC motorhome Onan generator kit(s) as they are not listed on their web site directly. Actually there are two of them, each with their own part number. One is for 1/2” hose from the propane tank to the Onan, the other is for 3/8” hose. Other than that they are identical except for the hose fittings.

My design work was done using 3/8” line and that worked just fine for me but the reference books all said one would need 1/2” hose to supply the correct amount of propane over that distance to power our Onan generators. The choice is yours and there is not that much difference in cost between the two kits. You can read the presentation I did on this at the GMCWS or GMCMI web sites. Enjoy!

So what's the solution for running propane to the 4K Onan on my 23 footer ??

Do I have to find a different mounting location for the regulator ??

Thanks,

Jerry's kit wasn't designed for the 4K Onan and won't fit as he presets it. It is possible to put a propane conversion on the 4K in a 23. Gene Fisher has done so, but he doesn't have any pictures on his website.
