Generator stopped putting out AC power this weekend. Changed the bridge rectifier which got it going for a few minutes, but the real issue is the brushes.

Some has installed one set of brushes with the brush contact wire going over the brush spring, holding it off the slip rings once it wore a bit. This has arced one of the slip rings causing the opposite brush which was installed correctly, to wear down to nothing now.

I can get replacement 214-0096 brushes from carbonbrush.com, but I was wondering if anyone has come up with a better replacement. The 1/4" quick connects are broken and the brush contacts have been soldered on.

Thanks

Been there done that. I went through this a couple times per me just trying the easy way and only replace the worn one. Replace them all and install new springs as well. The upper brush replacement is a real bugger.https://www.jackssmallengines.com/Products/ONAN/Generator-Brushes

I went ahead and ordered ebay # 310760400781, which is enough to do 3 gensets for the price of one brush alone locally. The size of the brushes and the blocks measure the same. The originals had 1/4" blade quick connects while these have a hole terminal. so I'll need to make a terminal block.

I'll see in 7-21 days!
