I bought a pair of SYLVANIA ZEVO 7" Round Street Legal LED Headlights in 2015. They really improved night driving for me. They are a bit pricey at ~$450 for the pair, but to me it was well worth it as I drive at night a lot. They put out a nice white light just like modern cars with LED headlights. They are a drop in replacement for the OEM headlights.

Silverstars are one step up. Beyond that there are lots of LED type units many of which are poorly made and very discourteous to oncoming traffic with stray glare. Do your research. Also alignment is very important and dependent on first setting proper ride height on your coach.

Plenty of new and old school options to upgrading mid 70's round headlights.
Being a Eurosnob, I went with Cibie 7" H4 headlights:

Once you do e-code headlamps, you don't go back...
You can put regular regular H4 halogen bulbs, Silverstars, or LED.
I went with these:

Plug and play. I did need to rotate them into the proper position to get the correct horizontal cutoff of the beam, but it works well with the Cibies. Very white.
I have a spare set of halogens just in case these do not last.

That should do the trick!
Will you rewire the lamp off of a solenoid? That bulb is rated at 1,300 watts and I think the old incandescent bulbs were much less, something like 50 watts, or so.

That's not 1300 watts, whatever the listing says. Most of these are made by
Easdar if they use CREE LED's, and they actually draw 25 watts (2.8 amps)
to produce 6000 lumens, per lamp, for their typical H4 bulb.

Relaying the headlights is on the list, even if these bulbs don't need it, just because.

I guess someone should point out, those lights are marketed as fog-lights because they are not DOT approved for use as headlights in the USA. Many people still use them for headlights but, "ya payes yer $$ and ya takes yer chances".

LMC has a twin relay kit to improve the amount of current the wires can carry. Simple install, just need to extend one wire. Kit was designed for GM pickups which are narrower than the GMC motorhome.

Thanks everyone. I see what I can get tomorrow.
I leave from Decatur AL to Oswego NY with several stops on the way. Will fly in RC glider contest on the way up. I wonder what will fail on this trip. Last few trips it was always something I could fixer wait until I get home. The last one was head lights and header gasket. I was 20 mile from home when header gasket blew in a back up on the interstate.
My main problem on that trip was me. I had a mild heart attack when in Florida. From what the doc said I thought I was ok to drive home. The head lights and head gasket went out on way home. I did not try and fix them. Had 4 by passes after some test. Sure fell much different now.
I should have fixed everything earlier but it took me a while to get started.

I'll agree that those who live in areas that inspect headlights need to know the gubment is likely to be unamused.
The DOT headlight regs date from the 50's. One of the requirements is that US bulbs must put a certain amount of light up off the road for overhead signs, and on both sides of the road. With DOT regs limiting low beam wattage to 55, this means less light on the road, where you need it. Another is that the lens have "DOT" molded into the glass. Just being free of the DOT molding in the glass makes then unapproved.
Unlike domestic sealed beams, which scatter light everywhere by comparison, E-code headlamps have a very sharp cutoff, making it easy to adjust so that the headlights do not blind oncoming traffic. More importantly, the cutoff angles more drastically up on the right (and none on the left) illuminating the right hand shoulder of the road and roadsigns. Can't count how many deer I've spotted getting ready to commit suicide with these lights.
In my opinion these are MUCH safer than DOT sealed beams, both for oncoming traffic and for the driver. I seriously doubt a constable is going to pull me because my lights didn't blind him as he approached...
Now, if you are a law and order kind of guy, please stick with DOT approved sealed beams. I do not condone lawlessness...

because there is a law against something, does not make it right.
Unenforceable laws abound.
From elder abuse, gun control, deficit spending, open range
regulations for grazing, monuments, the list is almost endless.
No police officer in the U.S.A. even knows them all, let alone wants
to waste their time standing beside a busy freeway writing a citation for
non DOT certified equipment, while substance abusing drivers zoom by 30 mph
over the speed limit. Just sayin.
