I hadn't seen any news of this on here so think I have to be the bearer of
bad news. I was just working on updating the Black List and was shocked to
read this from the younger Jim Miller.

May 21st, 2018

" Hi, my father Jim Miller passed away and should be removed from the Black
List. We were co-partners in crime when it came to GMCs. I still have all
the tools and some parts but due to my work obligations I should probably
not be on the list as a direct call. Several others in the area - Bob
Burkitt, Ken Burton, Matt Colie to name a few - as well as Jim Kanomata -
all know how to get ahold of me for tools and the like if need be and I'm
still happy to help if they can broker the call first. Perhaps if I can ever
retire you can put me back on the list directly. Thank you." --Jim Miller

Jim was a meticulous mechanic and a great GMCer. He helped a lot of us
through the years. He will be sorely missed.

Billy,

Thank you for letting us know about Jim Miller, Sr. I never had the
pleasure of meeting either of them, but I do know of their outstanding
contributions to our community. He will be missed.

B'dub,

You had not heard about this because Jim was very specific that I not pass the information along.
I knew Jim (the elder) had been in a bad way for a while. When we communicated, I would always ask after his parents as they were as much my friends also.

He will be (has been) missed.

G'day,

Helen and I visited "The Millers" on one of our tours; Jim Sr. and his wife (I must apologize as I've forgotten her name) were
gracious hosts and treated us royally.

I never got to attend one of Jim Sr's work rallies, however, I've read about what owners accomplished and it was most impressive.

Jim Jr. is one of the smartest, most technically skilled people I have ever met and I've met some clever people working in the
aerospace industry. He struck me as "Renaissance Man" his talents were fantastic. He had a collection of working aircraft turbine
powered Auxiliary Power Units and fired one up for me.

I was blown away by the machine he designed and built that would rewind Onan generators with copper wire instead of aluminum. The
fact that he was able to calculate how many "winds" of copper vs aluminum to use amazed me.

Hi everyone,

Thank you for all the nice words about my father. He passed in January of 2017 and according to his wishes he didn’t want an obituary nor any mention of his passing to be made publicly; in his usual up-front way he said “don’t make a big deal out of it”. In keeping with his wishes we told only a few close friends and left it at that.

I can tell you that he positively enjoyed meeting everyone that came to our rallies at the Miller Compound as well as his technical interaction with the GMC community members online. Even after entering a nursing home in late ’16 he was still reading GMCnet on a laptop and forwarding messages to me from time to time saying “Son - write to this person and see if you can help them”.

As for me, I’m still lurking on the GMCnet and continuing the activities of the Onan Longevity Improvement Program here at Miller Labs’ Special Projects Division.

Thanks once again to all for the nice comments, they mean a lot!

—Jim
