Curb appeal for a house, or GMC is everything for a good sale. For the amount of extra cost of some American Eagles from Jim K at Applied. The appeal will increase the value of the coach more then that extra cost over steel rims. TO ME. Steel rims on a GMC that's for sale. Makes me think that, what other things haven't been kept up. That's why I put new tires/Eagles on the 73 that I'm building to sell. Just a thought. Bob Dunahugh

Bob,
I agree 100% with what you're saying, however, a set of 6 non hub centered American Eagles is $1,350 ($225 ea) or $1575 for 7.
http://www.appliedgmc.com/prod.itml/icOid/1872
A new 16" steel wheel is $74.50 from Southwest Wheel or $521.50 for 7. For someone on a budget that's a $1000 that can be put
elsewhere.

Hey, I just discovered if you buy 7 you get a 10% discount and you wind up at $472.19. For the hell of it I set them up to ship to a
friend in Oregon and it was $125 UPS Ground.

If you paint those steel wheels in a complimentary color and add chrome
acorn nuts and a trim ring they can look just as good as alloys with far
less upkeep as well.

Sully,
Are you using that new "chrome-look" paint? I saw a pickup painted with it
the other day -- thought at first that it HAD been chromed.

The only "chrome look" spray I have seen is actually a silvering, mirror type finish. It is soft and when damaged can't be touched up. You would have to strip the piece and re-silver it. I researched it for some other projects I had and decided it it was too fragile for anything besides decorative interior pieces that don't get used.

Now, powder coating has come a long way with shiny finishes.

Wow,
That has changed....
When I was going to buy a full set, they were 90+ each and shipping was not cheap.
I ordered 7 and they shipped one and it had the wrong bore. It went back.
So, I worked a year to collect "good" used and have them powder coated and ended up at 65$/ea after a lot of frogging around.

Aluminum rims will help selling. I doubt you will get extra money for them. I know of a couple coaches for $1500 that had alcoas on. That still did not sell because they needed $5-10k in parts
To make the coach worth $5-8k.
