While at the Tucson GMCMI event. I was blown away by the number of newer GMC owners. That stopped to thank me for my posting of my e-mails under the subject line of Restoration. That was partly self-serving. As I put out ideas. And maybe someone just might mention a better way. And I've titled some post directed to new owners. I put out a posted before the Tucson event about the shift cable. One owner said that my post alerted him of a problem that he found in his GMC. We all have little Tid Bits in our past. That just might make the newer, or older owners aware of small things that we've not thought about for years. That just might make their ownership safer, more comfortable, or just help develop a more aware owner. So I'm inviting all owner to put their information under the Tid Bit subject line. This just might be interesting, and fun. I DO NOT want it to be just ME. PLEASE. I'm not that smart. Bob Dunahugh

Years ago I found a simple solution for fixing a loose hatch cover bolt.
There is a clip in a groove on the bottom of the bolt that often gets broken and the bolt will no longer lift the engine cover.
It can be fixed by using a 1/4” lock washer. You open the lock washer by using a couple of ViceGrips to twist it. After placing the lock washer into the groove you straighten it with the vice grips and close it around the groove. This will be a permanent fix as it has lasted over 20 years for me.

This past winter I replaced all my floor covering in the coach. From a previous posting on this site I did some research and installed a product called “rattletrap” through out the entire coach. It is an 1/8” butyl rubber with foil backing that sticks to the floor and provides a sound deadening effect.
While in our Mill End store where we purchased our interior fabrics, I came upon a roll of 1/2” mineral fiber material with foil backing that is used as a fire wall material in the hoods of cars. It also has some great sound deadening qualities. I used this as the carpet padding in the up from flight deck area.
We ended up using one vinyl in a color we really liked from Home Depot which is not what we had originally anticipated.
My challenge was to make a template to install the flooring. I used some garment moving boxes we had and taped them together and marked cross lines for reassembly outside the coach.
I cut the cardboard to within about 1” of the proposed perimeter of the new flooring. I then used a 6’ and 2’ level to mark the perimeter offsets on the cardboard. Reassembled the cardboard outside the coach and cut the vinyl used the level on the off set line.
Result: The new flooring fit to within 1/8” of the entire coach. Also, the coach has a really quiet ride.
