Giday,
I bought my ’73-23ft in Sault Set. Marie Ontario (it’s on the US/Canada border between lake Superior and Lake Huron) My son and I flew in, had a good poke around the machine. I might add that we had NO previous experience with a GMC MH. Full of confidence at what to us looked to be OK we took off to drive the 2,750 kms to Calgary Alberta. Flat tap,no stops, and because we forgot our passports had to stay within Canada.
Didn’t miss a beat, until halfway across Manitoba, then cough cough splutter splutter and we came to halt. In the middle of the Canadian prairies its a long way between anywheres. We knew the gas gauge was not accurate so we miscalculated and now were out of gas. We had cell coverage so called roadside assistance. About an hour he said so we sat there and read the pile of manuals that the PO had left for us. “Look at this” said my son, “there’s a switch for an extra gas tank” We tried it and sure enough it started right up. Too embarrassed to call and cancel we waited for the help to arrive. He gave us 2 gallons (imperial) we gave him the $5 he asked for, he asked if we needed any other help. We assured him that we were ok then waited until he had disappeared over the horizon. Started up our new to us MH and continued our journey. No further complications.
Rob M. Have you any information the GMCMH that is reportably in NZ? I’m here for a couple of years and could have a bit of a gander if I had some info.

Peter,
Actually I've heard that there were a number of GMC's in NZ; however, I've never been contacted by anyone that knew anything about them. I would suggest calling in at shops that sell or service motorhomes might turn something up. If you do find any PLEASE feel free to pass my contact info on to the owners (I'll send it to you privately).
Here in Australia Gail Bennett has created the Aussie Classic GMC Motorhome Club and we have about 10 members. However, we believe there are more GMC's in Australia; all we'd need is a "Mate" in law enforcement to do a search for any vehicles with a VIN number starting with TZE. Unfortunately if they did that and passed the info on to the club it would break the law which is something that law enforcement officials normally shy away from. :-)

Rob M.

Dennis,
THANKS!
When I get time I'll try and see what I can find out.
I have a good friend that lives in Christchurch; I'll forward the link to him and ask if he can find out anything about it.

Rob
I've sent an email to the pub advertised on the sign in the photo -- just in case they might know anything about the coach.
