It seems that in the race to see who can make parts the cheapest. More ways always come up. There are some new starter solenoids that have weaker return springs then the old one that you removed. So if you notice this spring difference. And install the old stronger spring. The new solenoid may not work. It appears that some new ones have a weaker magnetic field to engage the starter drive. Thus a weaker spring is required. These units can be identified comparing springs at time of purchase. So take your old spring with you. Bob Dunahugh

I should have added that this spring is what disengages the starter drive. An turning the starter motor off. Bob Dunahugh
