A couple years ago my coach was vandalized by a couple f@#kheads and they literally broke the passenger side wiper arm clean off snapping the stud that it mounts to. Now granted it doesnt rain much here in soCal but I would like to fix this. Is it possible to install a new stud in the old bracket or will the whole thing require replacement? I'm assuming that bracket was used on other GM vans of the same period so maybe it is possible to source one from them? Any help is appreciated as always.

Shan,

I'm pretty sure the entire stud bracket, and the attached linkage are
attached to the underside of the horizontal portion of the firewall just
below the windshield -- 2 or 3 vertical hex headed bolts, 1/2" or 9/16".

It's very unlikely that you'll get a replacement anywhere except from a
junked GMC, but that should be pretty easy to find since few of them are
replaced. Someone here may volunteer to help, or you can call one of our
usual suppliers. If your signature block included more information, like
coach model and your city, we might guide you to closest support.

If MIguel has a parts coach around, it will almost certainly have that part
on it. It's not likely to show a part number and it won't mean anything to
anyone anyway.

I recently had to replace that wiper arm and linkage due to a heavy snow
fall that broke the wiper stud. Two 5/16" bolts hold the bracket to the
cowling and three 10-32 bolts hold arm to that bracket. I was able to
force the old linkage out but because of the heater box I had to remove the
thee 10-32 screws to install the linkage arm. Not much room under there to
get at screws.

so is it the whole linkage that has to be replaced or can simply the stud be replaced?

The linkage and mounting bracket are probably still good. If the pivot shaft is broken then you'll need a new pivot assembly.

That's what I have. I used the original pivot shafts but had to redrill the arms to match the drive arms on the motors. It's good to know that JimK has new pivot shafts.
