I think I remember someone mentioning LED GMC marker lights that were
encapsulated, so they were a solid block of plastic. No leaks through
the lens mounting & hold down screws that way. Did I really remember
that, or was it just wishful thinking?
thanks,

Ron,
You got it right, that is what I did years ago.
I just don't remember who made them. The look just like the OE.
Oh, and install them LIVE. They are polarity sensitive and if you get something wrong, you know it right then.

The Grote catalog has the LED clearance lights listed. They are model #5052 for red and 5053 for amber. They are made in Taiwan.
They give dimensions and have a picture in their on-line lights catalog. They are available at Carquest but you should be able to find them cheaper elsewhere. www.grote.com

We stock them, but one need to put some putty in the screw hole as when it
fills up with water and freezes, it will crack. Tom Hampton was the person
that warned me.

I cheated....
Around boats there are only two ways to deal with water:
Keep it out - Really hard to do long term
Let it out - this only works above the waterline.
When I got the new markers, I saw that issue and so hand drilled #60 holes into sides of the screw pockets.
