I was recently asked about the baffles in the 455 valve cover.
I have posted a picture to the GMCmhphotos.com site.

Many secondary market valve covers (such as the chromed ones) do not have the correct baffles.
The wrong baffle often will allow a lot of oil to be pulled up the PCV valve and into the carb and be burned out go out the exhaust.
This results in high oil usage of the engine.

DO NOT replace the valve covers unless they have this baffle.

Again, Rob's email client inserted a linefeed at its set line length.

If you are not going to use the forum, you emailers need to learn how to recognize and fix email client mangled URLs by copy/cut and paste. I'm not going to be here forever to do it for you.

A -I know very well how to reassemble a broken link.
I don't need your snide remark offering to do it for me. I got my first computer about 50 years ago.

I don't know about the ones you posted but the one I posted was an original from my 1977 GMC 455.

If yours are from a GMC motorhome apparently GM made different ones.

Emery,

I posted that photo back in 2009 and I can't remember / don't know:

1) if the valve covers are Olds OEM valve covers

2) if I took the photo or if it was sent to me

Bottom line: both versions will restrict oil vapors flowing through the PCV
valve or vent to the air cleaner.

Rob M.

Split URLs happen here so often that folks need to recognize it and know how to deal with it. Since you posted that the URL was not working for you, the logical conclusion was that you didn't know how to restitch a split link.

Regardless, others might benefit from the explanation.

Snide is just another way of saying smart @$$. I'm OK with that.
