Hey guys! I have a question about an issue I came across. When dropping my tanks I clipped the sender wires at the plug along the rail.
Now the entire fuel system is re-lined, two vent lines instead of a shared
vent line, vent t up high under the drivers seat.
My issue is this-when I looked closely at the plug, it seems that the wires are swapped going into the plug and coming out of the plug.
What I mean is, tan wire coming from tank goes into plug at one terminal, (female), on the matching terminal (male) it is tan with white stripe.
Since there is only one way to plug in this plug...I'm at a loss.
I don't plan on re using the plug, because I can't get consistent reading through it, due to corrosion. My question is, do I follow the tan to tan, tan with white stripe to tan with white stripe, or do I swap them as it was wired?
I suppose I could follow the wiring all the way to the switch, but I really don't want to do that If it's not going to make too much difference.
Am I correct that this will in effect swap tanks on my switch, or should I assume a mistake by the installer?

OEM matched like to like. BRN/WHT is the front, auxiliary tank.

I understand. I have the wiring diagrams. My issue is with they way it came wired. From front to plug is swaped at the plug. Meaning the tan /white on one side of the plug runs to just tan on the other.

Thanks Jon. Again, my question is about why the plug wires would be swapped? There is only one way to plug in this plug, so from the tank to the plug is just tan, but after the plug is tan/white, and vice versa. In the diagram above, the colors swap at the 2 in the box.

I guess I'm going to wire it the way it was wired, not OEM. I cannot tell if it is wired correctly again after to 10 pin connector, so it's possible they the wires got swapped for just that run? ( between the 2 wire plug and the10 pin harness in above diagram)

I doubt anyone could explain why these are flopped as they are. One teat to find out what is which. With both of the leads to the dash in the clear read each tank on the gauge. IIRC they should read full. Now ground the brown lead. The main tank gauge should read opposit of what it was. If so the wiring is correct from the dash. Then follow the brown lead back to the gas tank. It should go to the rear tank.

I did the wiring before your response. Thank you for the walk through. Both tanks are showing empty, which is as it should be, seeing as how they're empty. So that's good! Once I fill it a bit I'll play with it. Easy enough to cut and swap the wires now that I have the POs cluster-mess all cleaned up.

No need to cut and splice. Just reverse the spade connections on the back of the tank switch in the dash.
