anybody have links or info on the installation of onan emerald generators? I see some 6500 pictures, i am looking at a 4000 onan emerald. Anybody that has the onan emerald plus installed, how would you compare it in noise as to the original onan, or other generators?

I have an Emerald 6500 with a full set of books. It might include the 4000.

Are you looking for clearances etc?

Nothing online?

Here's the manual...

Keith,

what is your opinion on the noise? I am pretty picky when it comes to generator noise. My onan runs, but i still think it is a bit loud, so I had hoped to decarbon it, and pull it out and re-do the insulation. But I came across a possible deal on a emerald 4000 plus. I could easily learn to live with less watts, as long as those less watts also means less noise and possibly less fuel consumption.

It's louder than I'd like, but I don't know if Ive heard a original Onan. It's mostly the vibration you can feel that at night.

Also it's a very tight fit in the compartment, tight enough that I can't access the rear spark plug. So I don't know how well they isolated the generator. Knowing the PO they hacked up the isolation mounts.

I guess it depends on if you like 1800 RPM noise or 3600 RPM noise.
