After getting new motor at Ken Frey's we went to weigh station down the road from his shop. We weighed each axel and the entire rig. The rig weighed in at 12060# and each end weighed in at about 6000#. The front has large steel plates and solid pipes welded to frame. Pictures are on Jim Bounds website somewhere. We think they were installed when it was stretched about 1996. There is no record of front end problems. Since then I installed beefed up stabilizers front and rear and four bag system. Tires are Michelin and I keep them at 80# in front. I have driven the coach about 6000 miles. Former owner used to tow a car trailer to pick up antique cars that he purchased for resale from all over the country. I lightened up just a bit by replacing the Onan with a Honda but nothing else.
Would installing 1 ton mod be advised.

We have weighed probably close to 100 coaches at various rallies over the years.

The front wheels usually come in close to 2000 pounds per side. I have seen a couple cone in the 1850 pound range. I have never seen one above 2200 pounds per front wheel.

I suggest that you re-weigh that coach.

I am going to say this one more time. And then you can do what you want.

REDUCE THE WEIGHT ON THE FRONT BY 1500 POUNDS IMMEDIATELY.

If you had ever seen pictures of the cracks on the A-arms at the ball joints from overload stress, you would be afraid to drive yours.

I would be surprised if the front end actually weighed 6000 lbs, I reckon it
has something to do with the way the coach was weighed. The location of the
front wheels on the scales?

In the first post he notes there is iron balllast in the front that was likely installed when the stretch was done.. It sounds like the ballast was an attempt to get weight off the rear. It appears it was overdone.

What is interesting is he is 2000 pounds heavy on the front and 2000 pounds light on the rear.

I would at least drive over a scale at a highway weigh station. It is free.

When scales are calibrated weights are placed at varying positions as part of the procedure. There is only a small variation allowed.
