I've read quite a few threads on painting these coaches.

I've reached out to http://www.automotivetouchup.com
With paint codes for frosted green. They have no match. I was hoping for the matches for the body and original
Stripe color.

Anyone have experience with getting these colors matched specifically?

The local pro auto body supply mixed a quart of Dupont Centari in Eleganza beige for me a few years ago. Just used code and match was perfect. Not Imron but it can go over Imron with no problems. I recently found out that many NAPA stores have in house mixing capabilities. Mine does. Some pro paunt places equipment is base coat clear coat only now as single stage is going obsolete. If you buff out the area first then lightly 320 and prepsol the area it should match. Once surface oxidation is removed, the Imron color is pretty true.

I have a note that says that the paint codes are listed in the Summer 1983 GMCMI news letter. I do not have that news letter to look it up.

I've got the codes. The issue is that no one can match it with the code numbers. I've called three professional auto paint dealers in the area, no one has any info on it.

I suppose I'll just buff out my propane door and take it down to one of the shops.

What I'm planning on doing is removing the stripe, then re-painting it instead of using vinyl.

To get more cross references, put the number you have in the "or manufacturer body data-tag paint code search:" box on this page:
http://paintref.com/paintref/index.shtml

Or see if any of the samples on this page match:

I searched "frosted mint" in the "or perform a keyword Search of the 705,469 paint codes in our database:" box on this page

I get G B Y 1976 GM Frosted Mint code 553 GM code WE5254 Ditzler PPG 45197 DuPont code 44017 Sherwin Williams code 7898 GMC Motor Home

That's where I got all the codes I used. I gave all three places all of those codes, and no matches at any of them.

Sherwin Williams can't match their own code?

Correct. Sherwin Willams cannot match their own code.

The only person that I've spoken to that was even close was sherwin williams auto paint supplier. They found the color by the color code, but have no formula.

awesome.

TCP global has the color chips on their site. (Frosted Mint, 45197 Ditzler)

They can match the paint, and provide it in quarts for 50.00 a quart. they will put it into spray cans for 13.00 a can additional, about 12 cans per quart.

Just thought I'd share the info for anyone on the hunt for these elusive colors. Now, to find the stripe color!

I think I'm going to remove the stripe, then tape and re spray the stripe, using the "50.00 paint job" method.

Did you try Tasco Auto Color in Austin. They are a PPG Dealer. They should be able get the formula from PPG , if they don't have it, and mix some.

I sure did. They offered to match it with the magical optical matcher machine, but could not find the info with the codes.

When I needed to match color, I took the fuel filler door to my local AutoValue. Using their optical matcher, they loaded up a couple of rattle cans for me. Matched perfect. JWID
