Success!! I bought Northern Tool set for pulley removal. Heated and quenched with PB blaster a few times. Watched the utube videos, including the guy that ruined his pulley. I had to use my electric impact wrench but it finally came off. Thank you everyone for your ideas and information. Now I have to wait for delivery from Applied.
Are there any secrets to getting the air out of the system? Now I just have to install new high capacity water pump, new plastic fan and clutch, new self exciting 140 amp alternator, new isolator/ combiner combo, voltage regulator for Stewart warner temperature gauges, new voltage limiter for my radio and backup cam that burned out and I will be ready to drive it again. These machines are a labor of love.

If you are putting in a 140 amp alternator you should increase the wire size from the alternator to the isolator/combiner. You can do a larger wire or add another wire in parallel with the existing one.

Jon,
Most alternators listed as "self exciting" have no remote sense capability. In such case, the isolator will be an imposition to effective charging and the combiner had better be able to carry the total load.
The secret to getting the air out of the power steering is to cycle the system. To do this easily, either park the front on sand or old magazines (no joke) and swing the box through its full travel lots of times.

Most importantly is did the removal tool come with an installation tool? The pulley must NOT be pressed onto the pump shaft, or the new pump will be damaged. It has to be drawn on, using the threads inside the shaft. Usually a long threaded stud with a bearing plate or some flat washers, and a nut to draw the pulley down onto the shaft. Worked at auto parts stores for years, saw quite a few pumps come back damaged from pulleys being pressed on, or even worse, hammered!

Yes they come with the tooling to draw the pully on.

Return that self exciting alternator, it's a bad idea.
remote sensing is especially important on the GMC since it measures the voltage after the long supply wire and after the isolator, were talking almost a full volt at full power.
And if you do go with a big Alt, upgrade the wire too, the stock wire is too old and too small.
Don't let the smoke out!
