Looks like I am going to be driving some friends down to the Vikings Game at USBank Stadium on Sunday. Originally I was just planning on dropping off and picking up, so was going to drive out of downtown area after dropping them off. Now I am being told they might come up with a ticket for me, so I am not going to complain, but that means i need to find a place to Park the GMC while I attend the Game.

The tailgating lots I guess are for special ticket holders, and even looking on the one's people sell online, they say 8 x16?? only for a car. The crew i am going with have parking garage passes with their tickets, and I don't need to make headline news trying to drive the GMC into a parking garage.

Is anybody near a light rail line that might have a safe/convient spot to park the GMC, or know of a solid place to park a GMC near USBank stadium?

The other big pain in the butt, is it looks like the twin cities marathon is this weekend.

One option is on street parking if you can find two parking meters vacant. We went to a game and parked on street (car not GMC) a few blocks away from the stadium for about 1/2 the cost of the parking lots and ramps.

Jon- I have only been to one event at USBank, thus far. The Green Line train runs from St Paul (Union Depot) to/from Minneapolis (Target Field)....and has a stop right near the Vikings stadium. There is a lot of free on street parking east of the U of M campus. You can catch the train at TCF Stadium Village or Prospect Park stops......and you are at the stadium in 8-10 mins. Clean, efficient, reliable. http://www.metrotransit.org/metro-green-line
I would recommend the free parking at or near Surly Brewing Company (520 Malcolm Ave SE), downing a few pints of Furious IPA, loading your belly with their banh mi sandwiches.....and getting on the train to the game. Surly's food is really good. Food at the stadium is expensive and is mostly just typical stadium fare.

I did not receive any financial compensation for my glowing endorsement of either Metro Transit or Surly Brewing Co.

Enjoy your drive down......and the game! SKOL Vikings!

No hurry. Still looking.

Thanks Rick.... Parallel parking the coach is always fun. I was originally thinking of seeing if you were around sunday and i could pick up that mattress, but that idea fell apart. My parking plan is now balanced on if they have a game ticket for me. Originally when I first talked to them about driving, it was just 8 people. Yesterday I found out they can't count and that number changed to 14. It will be a full coach, even though my record has been 21 people in the GMC.

Chris- I should go check out that GMC in the storage yard. I see he re-posted it. Price keeps dropping. but pretty hard to sell a Esperanza.
