Had very loud exhaust noise, removed manifold and the gaskets were bad, manifold have been planed and appear to be ok. I would like your recommendations for-
Exhaust gasket and source
Manifold studs, nuts and washers and source and grades or type
Anti-seize compound type and if should use
Head prep
Nut torque and tighten sequence
Manifold to exhaust system gasket and bolts and source

Am also removing fuel line and have dropped the fuel tanks as there was a leak when parked laterally on a incline, most of the lines appear to be original and rotten.
Would like recommendations for replacement tees and sources as one is galvanized and one plastic and it appears one is 3/8-3/8-5/16 (selector-main tank-generator), and I can't remember what the one to the gas to vapor separator in the wheel well is.

Am thinking of adding a assit electric fuel pump prior to the tank selector which I believe is a Jim
Bounds modification. Would recommendation as to pump size, captivity, inlet-outlet size, brand, source, etc.
Also what is be best location, to wire and is a fuel filter recommended - type -sources.

It may not make sense to ask for sources but to get to a Home Depot or Lowes I have to go 60 miles and Internet service is only marginally above 56 K internet searches are slow, nearest town is 900 people, 3 miles away.

But I can't remember the last time there was a traffic jam within 60 miles and the only mono digital signal I get is a wave that says Hi when I drive to town and 45mph.

If you have a phone, call Jim K at AppliedGMC. He sells everything you need. Sad to say you will want to go to a MacDonald's for the free wifi to download a Maintenance Manual for your GMC to get the torques specs and tighten sequence. Get the X7525 and X7725 manuals from:

The only gaskets that I recommend are the Remflex Gaskets and they are available both for the stock type manifold and the headers.

I show them here from Jim K site.
http://www.appliedgmc.com/prod.itml/icOid/670
PN 11-001 for headers
PN 11-003 for Manifolds

Jim has the very best pricing for these gasket sets and with shipping they are still less than I could buy them locally.

Over the last 18 years I have tried them all and these are the only ones that have worked, even with manifold that may not be totally flat.

They are torqued to around 14 to 15 ft/lbs, no more.

I use Permatex part# 09128 Copper Anti-Seize lubricant as my person choice.
https://www.amazon.com/Permatex-09128-Copper-Anti-Seize-Lubricant/dp/B000HBM8HU
and

or

I do not recommend the use of studs. Use the 3/8 X 3/4” bolt with a lock washer either in a grade 5 or grade 8, I use Grade 5.

As for tightening the bolts DO NO tighten the center top bolt first. Go clockwise center, center, end and end. The top bolt is tighten only hand tight.

Mr. Hamilton,

You believe the Remflex are even better than the copper gaskets Dave Lenzi sells?

Mr. Hamilton,
You believe the Remflex are even better than the copper gaskets Dave Lenzi sells?
I believe they both work. But the Remflex gaskets are better at sealing uneven surfaces. They are also easy to break, so install is trickier.

You really need to call Jim K at AppliedGMC. Free advice and decades of experience. 1-800-752-7502

Do not miss the point to NOT tighten the middle bolt. It helps hold the exhaust manifold and your choice of gasket in place while you properly torque the four inline bolts to specs. Remflex is my personal choice because of it's ability to seal an uneven surface. Tightening the middle adds a tilt to the manifold and it will not seal properly, and you will be doing it again.
