GMC Eastern States Motorhome Club would like to extend to the GMC
Community an invitation to join us for a preGMCMI rally at the
Shipshewana South RV Park in Shipshewana, Indiana.

We have designated this as a 'Spit & Polish Rally' for attendees to
get their coaches detailed for the upcoming GMCMI rally in Mansfield.

The Shipshewana campground has a self serve RV/car wash on the premises
and this would be an excellent opportunity to get your GMC looking spiffy
as well as ship shape and Bristol fashion.

If you are traveling across Interstate 80/90 in Indiana, Shipshewana is
a short trip south. Shipshewana to Mansfield for the remainder of your trip
to GMCMI would be a bit over 3 hours mostly traveling across U.S. 30
which I have heard is a very nice drive.

If your coach doesn't need any cleaning/detailing (??????), then there is
plenty of things to do in the area. RV surplus stores are within easy driving,
big flea market in Shipshewana, Hudson car museum and the nearby motorhome
museum.

Registration form is due Monday, Sept. 19th.

Please find a registration form at gmceast.com.

GMC Eastern States

Larry,

I'd add the couple of hundred miles to my trip to Mansfield except that
we're having a Dixielanders rally right here in Americus starting on the
22nd. :-(

See Y'All shining in Mansfield.

I just read an article that stated that Shipshewana is one of the "must see" small towns in America.

And it could be. If it is a realist diversion, this is your chance.....

Supposedly the largest dining room in Indiana is there. I don't remember
the name of the restaurant, but it's right down town on, IIRC, the NE
corner of 2 main streets. The picture on the wall opposite the door in the
mens' room is nifty. :-)

I'd love to go there, and probably will someday, but being pre-retired makes long trips a bit of a challenge for us.

We had a great time at the Essenhaus when we went on a Porsche Club driving tour through the area last year. The Hudson Museum is worth a look if you're there, and the Auburn/Cord/Duesenberg Museum is amazing if you make the drive to Auburn. I imagine the Amish buggies will provide quite the contrast to our coaches.

The ACD museum is responsible for "Tweety Bird"'s bright yellow paint job.
We stopped there on the way to Topeka to have it painted. When we got to
Topeka, we learned that they'd lost the color record for the Dotsons' GMC
(which we meant to copy), and so had Gene. So we had to choose colors from
the sample book. I'm certain that the YELLOW Stutz Bearcat at ACD, which
SHE loved, caused her to choose this shocking color. :-)

I'll have to side with Elaine on this. I think it's a beautiful
combination of colors.
