My wife had me go look at a GMC today, it was a 1977 Royale with side bath, but it did not have twins in the rear, it had a wrap-around sitting are with a table.
I have not seen this configuration before, does anyone know if it was an offering, or if it was a modification?

Here's hoping we will have another one to pay storage fees on since I can't keep them in my driveway.

Mike

Michael, if it was a Royale it was a 26'. The Birchavens in 77 were 23'.
Either coach could be fitted with either light colored Birch or dark
colored Eastern Walnut. All were up fitted by Jimmy industries, a division
of Coachman. 78's same thing. They left GMC as a Transmode. Many floor
plans and accessories were available on both coaches, few were exactly
alike.

It is a 77 Royale, definitely a 26 footer with the dark cabinets.

He just called me to ask how interested I was and when I asked what he wanted to sell it for, I pretty much lost interest.
I did talk to him for about 30 minutes and explained why I thought he was asking too much and what I thought it was worth, which was not what he wanted to hear, but he listened.

It is as far as he knew 100% Original, his father bought it from Bethune.
It has been stored inside for the past 5 years, but never driven.
The previous 10 years, it was only driven to football games.

It is being inspected this week, he said the dash a/c works, but the brakes are poor.
But it was driven about 20 miles to the inspection facility.

I told him, I would advise him after the inspection and try to help him sell it.

No new GMC for me Sad

I had the same configuration and made it into rear twin beds in 2000. What
was the other fellow asking for his coach?? I paid $22k for mine and it
came from Bethune; I have since put another $42k into it and I do all my
own upgrading and maintenance. For the most part, you get what you pay for.

Royal are ones done by Coachman so the furnace can be under the sink if the
kitchen is located behind the driver.
Should you have a Royal with kitchen on the passenger side, the furnace
will be under the couch on the driver side.

Double check as if it does not fit, you'll need to lift the couch and then
you have complaint.

He said he was planning on listing it for $22,500.
I told him it would need a lot of maintenance to get that price.

I know it has sat untouched for 5 years.
The airbags were definitely dry rotted and he admitted they leaked.
I am assuming the tires are at least 15 years old on the steel wheels.
It is missing the exterior fridge door and misc parts of the dash.

From the pics I took, the furnace is under the sink, I believe the hot water heater is there also.
And I am guessing the propane is under the one of the dinette seats.

If I hear back from him, I will post more information.
