As you might recall in my last post,,,, lost a coil in the heat on the way home and the onan ran for a couple min. and quit. Got a chance to work on it,,,,, no volts to the coil or fuel pump!!!! Am looking for a wiring diagram. Checked my factory manual,,,,nada????? Any leads on a diagram????

Probably a really on the control board.
I had a similar problem. Ran a jumper from the battery to the coil and ran good.
I replaced the control board with the dinasour board about $135.00 runs great now.

You can always jump from 9-11 to overcome the bad board. I keep a jumper
cable by the gen. compartment for that use and felt pened the 9-11.
Also a very good opinion is the fuel primer switch that mounts on the
inside panel to prime the fuel before hitting the starter. Less grinding of
the starter.On our website under Onan Generator.
We provide several Dinosaur boards a week as the old ones are failing.

It's easy to remove the board for inspection. There may be a burnt trace or broken solder connections holding the faston tabs to the board. The fuse holder tabs are pretty wimpy and often get oxidized making no connection to the fuse.

If you PM me or email me your email address, I'll send you a copy of Colonel Ken's Onan wiring diagram. It is much easier to follow than the book one. Also do not be in a rush to replace that Onan board until you have proven it is really what is bad. While it is probably a problem on the board, there are lots of other things that could cause your problem. If the board is indeed bad get a new dinosaur from Jim K at Applied GMC. I use to fix them. I got tried of fixing them again and again. I finally said no more and replaced mine with a dinosaur board.

Speak for yourself please....
Just getting the cover off an old BF in a 73 is a bear, then getting the board out is still not simple and putting it back in is a mofagator.

The NH units have longer slides.

Matt I've never wrenched on a "honey who shrunk the GMC 23". Would a gearwrench slip in to get the board cover screws loostened?

Luck you John,
A 5/16 gearwench might help.
The back cover screw can be loosened to get the cover off with a 5/16 box, 1/6 of a turn at a time.
Then there is very little room to remove the 1/4" fason connections on the board.
If you need to get the board off, you need an angle/ratchet screw driver because the body is in the way to get a shot with any real screwdriver.

All the expected maintenance can be done on the slides, but anything past the coil is a bear.

I work hard to keep it running nicely and so far the effort has been rewarded. I do still need a fix for the push in dipstick. Teflon tape on the rubber stopper is temporary.
