You get the condition of a limited slip, or locking unit causing a vehicle to go straight in slippery conditions. That condition only occurs in a rear wheel drive when equipped with any type of locking, or limited slip. As to front wheel drives. There's basically no negative affect. If you're really stuck in deep. Limited will assist to get you out. But that's as far as that's going.

Not so, hit the brakes and lock your front wheels on snow or ice in 30mph, then try to steer, what will happen ? go up a hill and both wheels start to spin, try to steer, what will happen ? this is pretty basic stuff..

To be fair hit the gas on ice with an open diff and you will go to the side too.
Steer on ice and, well you won't no matter what diff you have.
Ice be slippery, it doesn't take much to slip on it.
I live in Minnesota, I'm familiar with ice

Again, I don't drive the GMC in the winter, I do drive it on grass and up gravel campground driveways.
Posi all the way

Limited slip is what the 4 wheel drive use and is not a locker.
The surface need to be very slick, if so you will be driving carefully
anyway.
Our unit has but only 250-300 ft lbs of torque , then starts spinning.

Oh well, you guys do what you want to do, I have done my part and warned you, I kind of know what I am talking about living where I do and been driving vehicles around the year with a total weight of over 100,000 Lbs for a living..
And sure you do not drive the GMC in the winter, neither do I, the pictures below was taken on the way back after buying Dobbelt trøbbel, it was around 60F when I left home, boy do things change over night Wink
