Thank you. How is it supposed to attach? It hits the timing cover. Mine had a 4-5in long pipe attached to it to lift it over the intake manifold and it broke off when i was just connecting the wire.

The pipe broke off or the sensor wire terminal broke...which one is the correct scenario? If the pipe broke, you need to get the remains out of the engine and duplicate it down at the hardware store after you separate the sensor from the rest of the pipe.

It has a mail pipe thread.
I believe it is a 1/8 ntp thread.
Most hardware stores have them.

I think that he is saying that the wire terminal is broken so he wants a new sending unit. Now he can not figure how to screw the new one on.

Be careful when buying a new one. They usually will give you one for an oil pressure switch. You need one for an oil pressure gauge. Both are available at Advanced and I'm sure other auto parts chains.

Highly recommend that any fittings used to connect the oil pressure sensor to the block be steel or stainless steel. I've noticed
that brass nipples that come out of China are thin walled!

mine had a 45 degree street elbow fitting I believe. the 45 was to the front of the GMC/engine, and it cleared the timing cover? I did have to remove it to install the timing cover, but it just screwed down into that street elbow.

Be aware that the currently available are not of good quality. My first made it 36 years, second two years, third is sticking and bouncing at 6 months. Fortunately I bought it off AutoZone (Delco boxed yet) getws lifetime warranty. Givem my phone number, they look up the transaction and hand me another.

Pipe broke off in the block. I used an extractor and removed it and then turned the motor over until oil came out to make sure no metal particles are still inside.

Maybe use a flexible hose and a diverter block mounted at the floor or firewall ? I need 2 oil pressure senders maybe 3 as I could need one for the electric fuel pump

A 1/8" MPT x 3" nipple of stainless steel with a tee on top has provided a
perfectly acceptable arrangement for my guage sender and LOP switch for
many years now -- on first the 455 and now the 500.

If that's a gauge at the right end, I'd get it out of there NOW. I had a
fuel pressure gauge mounted in the engine compartment. It failed and ran
gasoline over the exhaust manifold. I got VERY lucky and checked the odor
before an explosion could occur. Engine oil would be quite a bad as
gasoline, but could still easily get from that location onto the exhaust
manifold and cause a fire before becoming sufficiently aromatic to act as a
warning.

Other than that it looks like a nice sturdy installation.
