Yesterday was the first of two shows this month.

Those of you that know my coach know that as nice as it may look for a 40+yo unrestored vehicle, it is not "Concours" a piece. But that is the usual concours. This was the Concours de LeMons. It was a show for the other things. There was a lot of strange stuff there. There were both some really neat old things, some restored old things that were strange, a collection of Corvairs (1 Spyder and no Yenkos). A couple of great restorations and some were still daily drivers that must be summer cars because the Michigan road salt (aka fender solvent) is very hard on them. Because I didn't take pictures, I'm not even going to go into the rest of the fleet.

I had out our show board (inside a window) and many stopped to read it. The MC asked me to come up to the microphone and talk to him about the coach. I did, and I got to do some minor proselytizing about how well our organization and suppliers support us.

I would have taken lots of pictures, but I didn't bring the underwater camera and there was an almost constant drizzle. Even a short downpour, just to make things interesting, did send some of the entrants packing.

They awarded some prizes, a Major Award (a page in a dollar store frame the said "ConCours de LeMons - Major Award), Worst in Show, a few others. All were fun and most got huge applause. The MC didn't mind saying that most of the prizes were what he could get at the dollar store due to his limited budget.

I plan to go back next year, if anybody else that is in striking range wants to come along I bet they will make room. Just tell me and when I get the promised notice, I will pass it along.

Next weekend we will be a TCT camp and show near another car show that is part of the Milan (MI) Summer Festival. We have been part of two out of the last five of there and it is another great time to sell the idea. Not everybody loves the idea of rebuilding a canned ham where the sticks of the stick and staple construction have all disappeared due to a water leak and rot. When talking to old RV people and I say that the coach has no structural wood, some know what that implies.

Then in two weeks is the Woodward Dream Cruise. I haven't decided about that yet. It is a good bet that Craig Lechowicz as he had regularly stationed at a spot along the route to be support for a group of friends. (Otherwise, a wizzer and drinking water are hard to come by.)
