Anyone with experience on the dash air not shutting off the heater. I suspect that this is a vacuum problem, as the compressor clutch comes on and the system is fully charged, but only hot air is coming out. ??

Make sure the blend door cable is operating the door. The slave lever is on the plenum box outside. The hot water shut off valve is only activated when in recirculate mode, so many have installed a shut off valve in the heater hose to positively stop the hot coolant flow through the heater core.

If the cable is not moving the lever outside, the plastic retainer on the inside (control)end of the cable may have broken and the cable sheath is just moving with the core and not transferring the motion to the outside end.

There is also a screw clamp that hold the sheath of the cable. It is located under the hood, on the driver's side of the heater box right next to the bell crank that the cable is suppose to move.

FWIW, if the hot water shut off valve has not been replaced recently,
I would replace it since it is probably allowing hot water
to circulate through the heater core.

A rather easy and inexpensive job and your a/c cooling will improve.

Is the compressor cold on one side????
If not check the clutch .
If compressor is putting low pressure(cold) the check the doors to see it is diverting properly.

In time we wasted few hours trying to figure out a cooling issue.
That evening I went out to check it out myself and saw that the compressor was working but only hot air came out.
It was a Vintage unit and the heat valve was instAlled backwards which allowed hot water to flow, it was peer powering the cool air
