We are getting ready to reinstall the rebuilt trans. We will be converting the 5/16" stock cooler lines to 3/8" lines. Does anyone have the part # for the fitting that goes into the transmission that allows us to use the 3/8" lines? The female hole in the trans is NOT NPT, but rather a straight thread with a washer under the shoulder of the fitting. I looked on Gene's GMC Motorhome site and did a search on this forum site and did not find what I'm looking for.
Also need to be reminded of which of the two lines is the feed and which is return to the transmission.
Thanks in advance.

Larry, the inside tranny line is the feed and goes to the bottom port on the radiator. It returns out the top to the outside of the tranny. The engine oil cooler lines feed the top and returns out the bottom.

Hi
Is this relevant? I found it in the GMC faq:
http://bdub.net/gmc-faq.html
How can I use 3/8" tubing from the transmission to the cooler?

What determines which way the flow goes in the coolers? Or, does it matter?

Emery,
I remanufactured some standard 1/4" pipe adapters to
1/4" straight pipe thread. You also need to put a little
undercut at the bottom of the thread to give a flat seat
for the sealing washer.
GM actually used 3/8" cooler lines up to 1972, but trying
to find those fittings is almost impossible at this time.

Johnny,
Look at MM X7525, page 7-25, Fig 13 and it show the flow path for the transmission oil cooler.
The transmission outlet is the one closest to the engine and goes to the radiator to the top fitting on the radiator and out the bottom fitting of the radiator. and returns to the transmission on the outside of the transmission housing.
