Looking to get new tires so need new Alcoa all steel valve stems. Struck out at Applied and Southwest Wheel. These are the straight ones with hex nuts and metal cap for 80 PSI for Classics.

John,
If you already have an of Alcoa valve stems on Alcoa wheels they do not need to be changed when you put new tires. DO NOT let them mess them up or touch them other than removing and replacing the valve stem. Just remove the valve stem and let the tires depressure. I have had them on my one set of rims for several sets of tires and many years and they do not wear out like the cheap rubber valve stems that they put on regular rims.

I think JR means remove and replace valve core not stem.

Ok. I didn't know if the gaskets where the fit the wheel dryed and cracked. Should they put back same cores? Or put in new cores? Are 80 PSI cores different? I know you must use the metal caps with gaskets.

You might check with Applied GMC. They show the “bent” ones on their site for American Eagle but they might have the Alcoa ones.

Otherwise go to eBay and search for Alcoa Velve stems and you will see a lot of them in various lengths.

Nothing has been done yet. I plopped down the card to get the price locked 6 for $880 with tax and mount/bal. I just wanted to know if they should reuse the inner valves they take out as they are Alcoa specific??? Or insert new in my old metal stems.
Mgr was out today. I also have to be sure nothing is older than a year old or I will void sale. 6 mo old would be better. They are E ragwalls and USA as I took a pic of fine print on sidewall.

We have them in stock as we sell Alcoa wheels.
Our American Eagles, we supply with the SS stems wit High Temp rubber.
You will get the right one for your wheel as there are several ones.

John,

You can buy the Haltec stems from Meyers Tires. If you want to run Equal or Counteract use the TV-553 series.

Alcoa had me call Haltec yesterday but have not heard back. Do you know the PN for the standard steel stem for the the Classic? I have my own computer spin balancer so I don't want to use Equal. Partly because I don't understand how it works! Actually I'm sure the stems are fine and I only need the seals replaced if at all.

I ended up ordering new TR- 543 stems per the GMCMI parts interchange from Rubber Inc. I had an acct there years ago but expired so had to update. The Alcoa tech guy hasn't. called back yet. Also new tires are coming from distributor or Cooper directly so I should have fresh stock. I told the tire mgr that 6mo max would be prefered and nothing older than a year please. If a tire is 2 years old allready then I have to buy again in 5 and they will only have 25k on them. The stems may be fine but they are not expensive.

I'll try to find the contact at Alcoa--they recently sent me 12 stem assemblies for free.

Free is good. I never got a call back from Alcoa and Haltec sent me to local vendors. Neither Alcoa or Haltec provided a part number but the GMCMI parts interchange did. I have 7 new ones from Rubber inc. I had an old acct there that went inactive so I had to do a credit ap again. They are $2.65 each.
