In preparation to replace shocks observed the lower attachment bolt (right front) had been broken from the right lower control arm then was tack welded (by PO) to the control arm and the weld had broken. Should the control arm be replaced or taken off and to a welding shop. Jim

It depends on where it is broken. Mine was broken about 10 years ago and I welded it back on. There is no need to remove it for welding. Just remove the shock and drive it to a welder.
You might need to remove the front tire to make room for the welder to work. I do not remember if I removed the tire or not. I do remember that it was a simple couple of minutes job to weld it back in place.
