I've cured most of the leaks, replaced the speedo bullet, dipstick and modulator. I have one screw that gets a drop of trans fluid, but the biggest culprit is my shift shaft seal. Can it be replaced "in the coach"? Do I have to drop the pan and valve body? Any insight would be appreciated.

Yes, you must drop the pan and pull the pin out.
I can send you the seal in an envelope to you N/C.

I think, in this case, the seal in question is more of an O-ring type of seal, so those seal replacement tools will not work. AS Jim K stated, you need to drop the pan and the valve body to replace it.

Just the pan and then the shaft iirc. Don't think the valve body needs to
be removed. While the pan is off its a good time to add a drain bung.

My mistake. I thought the shaft was connected to the valve body.

Thank you Jim for the generous offer, I will be calling as soon as find my spare pan gasket...otherwise my list will grow...now would be the time to do an aluminum pan...
