There has always been issues with the OEM parking brake and there have been a number of after-market improvements. I have 6 wheel disks, but currently no parking brake.

I came across this electric parking brake caliper by TRW, and I'm sure they are made by others as well. Its a stand alone electric actuated parking brake caliper. Instead of mechanical cables, an electric motor actuates the caliper. For our disk brake conversions, the caliper mount would need to be made with provision for this second caliper. I'm sure it would work easily with the reaction arm systems as well.

Has anyone done this or looked into it? The link to TRW's brochure (unknown date of publication) says they have made over 12 million since 2002, so they should be showing up at the wreckers.

Some of those for Audi seem like they would fit over a 1.25" thick rotor like most of us have. Most of that list are for thinner rotors.

BIG difference in vehicle weight. I wonder if two of them would hold a GMC? Could always put a pair on the mid axles too I guess.
