My only continued issue with my first drive was reaching the gas pedal. I had the same problem with the 28A Chateau. My left foot reaches the floor fine, my right foot (in order to be on the gas pedal) is suspended in the air
I tried holding it in the air on the pedal making the pedal more parallel to the floor- that seemed OK but not ideal.
The original seats are very deep and come to the back of my knee (like if my thighs were longer or I slouched I'd be OK). I brought along a lower back pillow but it was not comfortable it was too much.
What I eventually did in the Chateau was put a 3/4" of plywood down so my heel could rest on it and I could reach the pedal. I'd rather not do that...
Any suggestions? I can only move the seat forward and back, no other adjustments.
Pedal extension or adjustment?
Thanks

The pedal Rod can be bent, it is often bent from use, but I'm not sure that would help.
Better seats, like my Flexteel 6 way adjustable ones would help, but they are pretty spendy.
I think your plywood foot support sounds like the best plan

You might also try removing the little inverted-cup shaped spacers between
the front
of the seat tracks and the swivel base. Or, a quick and dirty solution
might be a small
piece of 2by4 duct taped to the brake pedal.

Get some seats from a Bronco II or Explorer. Use just the seat on the GMC base. Gotta drill and tap 2 holes in the rear of each seat to match the holes in the GMC seat base. The front holes were close enough to just enlarge the holes in the GMC seat base and they lined up with the threaded holes in the Ford seat. The seat cushion will be softer and thinner, putting you closer to the floor. You will also get an adjustable backrest in the process. Many of the Ford seats also have an adjustable lumbar cushion that can be electric or manual.

Hmm, I'm not sure I understand how to lower the seats. I really like the stock seats but they only go front to back as far as I can tell. Any photos or diagrams about what you mean?
I tried a small pillow behind my back and that could work, is getting a bigger pedal OK to do?

Just as a trial -- do something as simple as duct taping a rubber wedge door stop to the gas pedal. That may help you decide the most comfortable approach.

Thanks Bill, I think I understand that- raising the back (or lowering the front) is what's needed and I can visualize chucking up the back. I can still swivel the seat if I do this?
And, (by now i must seem as dense as they come) can you send a link to a photo of the footstool? I'm having a hard time picturing it in place and helping.
My biggest problem is I want my heel to rest on the floor while my foot is on the pedal so it's a pivot. So tilting the seat downward would help (as did trying a better sized pillow behind my back, since the other issue is the seat is so long it reaches the back of my knees)
Cheers

bolts in the rear and a piece of wood or metal for a spacer to make it
higher. There are usually already spacers under there. Take the ones out
from under the front side. You'll see it if you look.
My wife uses one of those short swiveling footstools on the floor when she
drives (which is most of the time).
